July 2 – 4, 2010
The Buccaneer Region SCCA’s 2010 LouElla Cook Memorial race at Roebling Road was a Double SARRC/Double ECR this year. In past years it has been a Double National. For those not familiar with SCCA racing, the SCCA has national and regional class racing. The South Atlantic Road Racing Championship (SARRC) is a regional class championship in the SCCA’s Southeast Division. On a Double SARRC weekend each class runs two 15 lap races.
Clint McMahan led every lap of both races of the weekend to take both overall wins for Group 1. On Saturday he set a new track record of 1:12:768 in the process.
Steve Brooks and Steve Robertson battled for the CF win in both races, with Steve Brooks taking the win on the last lap in both races.

Richie Stanley won SRF on the track with Frank Severino and Robert Bauman finishing 2nd and 3rd in SRF. But Stanley was penalized 3 positions for passing under the yellow. This moved Severino into 1st and Bauman into 2nd. Severino was then penalized 1 position moving him to 2nd. By virtue of Stanley’s and Severino’s penalties Bauman inherited the SRF win.

The July 2-4 Double SARRC / Double ECR weekend at Roebling Road wasn’t originally part of BK Racing’s 2010 plans, but after getting a first & second at Nashville SuperSpeedway over Father’s Day weekend we decided to see if we could pick up some more SARRC points. We had also done some major suspension changes to Cuervo after the wreck at VIR in May, so this would give us another opportunity to sort some of that stuff out.
Short story – first in GTA and third overall on both days, we’re now leading in the 2010 SARRC GTA points chase, and we loaded a running race car in the trailer at the end of the weekend. Life is good!
And, as always, here’s the longer story:
